Jón Jónsson was born on October 30th in 1985 in the small town of Hafnarfjordur, Iceland. All his life, he has been active musically, both in his local music school and in big productions in high school and college. After graduating with a degree in economics from Boston University in 2009, Jón Jónsson returned to his hometown of Hafnarfjordur, Iceland and became a professional musician after releasing his first single in 2010.

Jón‘s single, When You‘re Around, was his first smash hit and reached 2nd place on the top 30 list in Iceland, while Jón’s All You ILjúft að vera til, Gefðu allt sem þú átt and Your Day all reached number one, being the most popular songs in Iceland at the time. 

In 2011 Jón was named the best new artist at the FM957 People‘s Choice Awards, with over 60% of the votes, and a year later he was chosen the best singer at the same prize award festival. In 2012 he was also nominated as the most promising act at the Icelandic Music Awards, but came in second after Of Monsters and Men. His debut album, Wait for Fate, received a Gold Record in Iceland in 2013. From 2012-2014 Jón was signed to Sony’s Epic Records in America.

Along with being a musician, Jón is juggles multiple balls. In 2014 and 2015, he was a judge on the TV show, Iceland’s Got Talent, and currently, Jón is also a national champion with one of Iceland’s biggest football clubs, FH Hafnarfjordur. Jón has also lent his voice to different characters for the Icelandic voice-over in the animated features, The Lorax, Dispicable Me 2, Rio 2 and the Minions.
